Corrections & Editorial Integrity

What Fix My Credit corrects, how to report an error, and the public log where every substantive correction is recorded — dated, with the old wording preserved.

Why this page exists

Facts drift: a rule changes, a program updates its terms, a number we cited is revised by the source that published it. A paragraph that was right when it published can quietly go stale. We treat factual errors the way a newsroom does — we correct them, we date the correction, and we leave the trail visible on this page, at a permanent URL.

What we correct, what we clarify, what we never do

We correct factual errors: wrong numbers, dates, rules, names, and steps, and any sentence that could mislead a reader acting on it.

We clarify wording that is ambiguous without changing its meaning. Clarifications are tagged as such, so you can tell the difference.

We never silently edit. A substantive change to a published piece always appears in the log below, and the corrected page carries a date-stamped update note. Dated posts whose facts were correct at publication get a correction note at the top of the post rather than a quiet rewrite.

Three tags

FIX — a substantive factual error that could have misled a reader. The old text is preserved verbatim alongside the new text.

UPDATE — a forward-looking change driven by new information from the primary source. The old text is preserved; the new text supersedes it.

CLARIFY — a wording change that does not alter meaning. We document that it happened; the old wording is not preserved.

How to report an error

Use the form on our homepage. Include the page URL, the sentence you are flagging, and a link to the source you are citing.

We read every submission. You do not need to be a customer to tip us — a reader who catches an error is doing the next reader a favor.

What happens next

1. We verify the flagged sentence against the primary source. We do not publish a correction we cannot source.

2. We correct the page and add a date-stamped update note to it.

3. We log it here with its tag (FIX, UPDATE, or CLARIFY), the page affected, and the date — for FIX and UPDATE entries, the old text alongside the new.

Our pledges

No silent edits. If a change is substantive, it is in this log. Old text preserved for every FIX and UPDATE. Every entry dated. If your tip led to a correction, the log says so — anonymously if you ask.
